The Boston Company Asset Management, LLC was founded in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts by Boston Safe Deposit & Trust Company, one of America's oldest financial institutions with origins dating back to the early 1800s.

The Boston Company was established to provide investment strategies tailored to the institutional marketplace. Organized as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), The Boston Company is a wholly owned and independently operated subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.
