Sam Austin is executive managing director, Institutional Distribution for Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. He manages the institutional sales and marketing organization, including the company's sales and consultant relations professionals who collaborate with product specialists based at each Virtus partner firm to provide thoughtful investment solutions for endowments and foundations, as well as corporate, government and multi-employer pension plans.
Mr. Austin has more than 20 years of experience in finance and asset management. He began his investment career as a portfolio strategist in the Quantitative Equities Group at Bankers Trust Company in New York, rising to the position of co-head of Institutional Sales & Marketing. In 1999, he moved to San Francisco to serve as principal and team leader of Business Development at Barclays Global Investors. Mr. Austin joined the SCM Advisors subsidiary of Virtus Investment Partners in 2003, where he became director of Institutional Sales and Marketing.
Mr. Austin received a bachelor's degree in business and an MBA in finance from Boston University. He also studied additional coursework in finance and management at the Sloan School of Business at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
