Services: Your Security Is Our Priority

How Virtus protects your personal information

At Virtus, safeguarding your online security and privacy is a high priority. We use strict controls to help ensure that your online transactions are safe and reliable, such as:

  • Encryption – Virtus and their web providers use a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) server. This ensures that all communication between you and the server are encrypted and cannot be viewed by third parties.
  • Secure login including a multi-factor authentication (MFA) method to confirm a user’s identity. MFA is a security system that requires more than one method of authentication from independent categories of credentials to verify the user’s identity for a login.
  • Stringent User ID and password requirements. Virtus will not request personal information via email or text message. You should only provide account information via our secure online account access section of our website, Virtus.com, when calling Virtus Mutual Funds, by fax, or by U.S. mail/express delivery.

What you can do

We recommend that our clients practice good computer, online, and storage habits, such as:

  • Protect your User ID, password, and other account-related information
    • Make sure your User ID and password are unique and strong.
    • Keep your User ID, password, and other account-related information confidential.
    • Never store your User ID or password in your browser.
    • Only use trusted networks when accessing personal or financial information.
    • Only use trusted devices with proper security settings to access personal or financial information.
    • Never use the same password for all of your accounts. If one account is compromised, the same password could be used to fraudulently access other accounts.
  • Protect your computer
    • Make certain that any device you use has up-to-date security and anti-spyware, anti-virus, and firewall software. Run anti-virus and anti-spyware regularly.
    • Keep all internet browsers up to date with the latest version.
  • Protect yourself from email scams
    • Do not respond to, open an attachment in, or click on a link within an email if you suspect the message is fraudulent. Signs that an email might be a phishing scam may include:
      • Messages that threaten to terminate or suspend your account if you don’t respond.
      • Unsolicited emails asking for personal or financial information.
      • Attachments or links to unfamiliar sites.
      • Get-rich-quick investment opportunities.
      • A check or request for wire transfer from an unknown person.
  • Shred personal documents that you no longer need or can access electronically or online.
  • Protect your personal documents, which contain sensitive information such as your Social Security card, passport, tax records and receipts, bank statements, etc.
