Freeware publishing utility and real-time player
Virtus Player is a utility that allows users of Virtus software to publish their models. The availability of this freeware application enables computer users, even those who do not own Virtus software or have access to the Internet, to open and navigate within Virtus models.
Fluid, real-time movement within a 3-D scene, known as a "walk through," is what sets Virtus software apart from other 3-D visualization programs. Virtus Player enables any personal computer user to "walk" through a Virtus model and easily view it from any perspective. Virtus Player files cannot be edited, so modelers can send their creations to others without fear of them being altered.
Virtus software is used by architects to communicate designs to their clients, by film directors to visualize sets and by facility planners to set up a new or existing work site. These users regularly create 3-D Virtus models to demonstrate their ideas, and will appreciate being able to easily share their work with others.
Virtus Player is distributed as freeware and can be downloaded free of charge. The software is also available on the Virtus America Online forum. Virtus will ship Virtus Player, at no charge, to registered users of Virtus VR, Virtus WalkThrough and Virtus WalkThrough Pro who are unable to access the online services.
All packages of Virtus WalkThrough Pro 2.0+ contain both a Macintosh/Power Macintosh and Windows version of the Player so that the user can freely distribute models, regardless of platform. System requirements for Virtus Player are a color Macintosh running System 6.0.4 or later or, on Windows, a 386-based or later PC running Microsoft Windows 3.1.
