David R. Fraley

David Fraley is the former executive managing director of client services for Rampart Investment Management Company, LLC, the firm that he co-founded in 1983, which became an investment management affiliate of Virtus Investment Partners in 2012. Effective October 2015, as part of Rampart’s succession plan, Mr. Fraley began serving the firm in an ongoing advisory capacity, which he will do for one year, until late 2016.
For more than three decades, Mr. Fraley oversaw day-to-day client service relationships for Rampart’s strategic partners and institutional clients and led the company’s business development program. Prior to joining Rampart, Mr. Fraley served in a number of sales and management roles with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in Providence and Boston from 1975 through 1983. He originally worked with the corporate financial services division as the Northeast regional manager until becoming Northeast manager for the institutional options department where he guided Merrill Lynch’s underwriting of Colonial Management’s Corporate Cash Trust, a dividend capture fund utilizing listed options.
Mr. Fraley has been an invited speaker at industry conferences, including the annual Risk Management Conference hosted by the Chicago Board Options Exchange, as well as the FIA/OIC annual conference. He has served as chairman of the board of visitors at the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. He is also a four-year “heavy hitter” rider in the Pan Mass Challenge fundraiser for research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Mr. Fraley completed the key executives program at Harvard Business School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1971 and is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Fraley began his career in the investment industry in 1975.
