Nathan Partain is president and chief investment officer of Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co. (Duff & Phelps). Prior to this promotion in April 2005, Mr. Partain was executive vice president of Duff & Phelps (1997-2005). Previously, he was with Duff & Phelps Investment Research Co., where he served as the director of utility research (1989-1996), director of equity research (1993-1996), and director of fixed income research (1993).
Mr. Partain serves as president, chief executive officer, and chief investment officer of DNP Select Income Fund Inc. (NYSE: DNP) since 2001 (and executive vice president and chief investment officer, 1998-2001), and president and chief executive officer of Duff & Phelps Utility and Corporate Bond Trust Inc. (NYSE: DUC) and DTF Tax-Free Income Inc. (NYSE: DTF) since February 2004. He became a director of DNP Select Income Fund Inc., Duff & Phelps Utility and Corporate Bond Trust Inc., and DTF Tax-Free Income Inc. in May 2007 and has been the president, chief executive officer, and a director of Duff & Phelps Global Utility Income Fund Inc. (NYSE: DPG) since March 2011.
Prior to joining Duff & Phelps as an electric utility analyst in 1987, Mr. Partain was with Gulf States Utilities Company, where he was a financial analyst in the Treasury Department, senior budget analyst on the River Bend Nuclear Project, and director of regulatory affairs, Texas and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Mr. Partain is also a director (since 1993) and chairman of the board of directors (2011) of Otter Tail Corporation, a diversified electrical utility company. He earned both a B.S. and M.B.A. from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Partain is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder and member of the CFA Society of Chicago. He began his career in the investment industry in 1987.
